Physical Therapy

Physical Therapy

Physical therapy is the treatment of musculoskeletal and neurological injuries and conditions to promote a return to function and independent living.

Physical therapists assess joint motion and stability, muscle strength and flexibility, muscular and cardiovascular endurance, and the ability to perform activities of daily living. They are experts in movement and function and focus not only on treating injuries, but also preventing them.

Physical therapy includes the use of hands-on care and exercise for restoring motion and strength as well as functional training for returning to daily activities, work or sport. HealthSouth's areas of expertise include:

General Orthopedics

A comprehensive musculoskeletal evaluation by physical or occupational therapists establishes a dynamic treatment program utilizing exercises, manual skills and modality interventions to treat orthopedic injuries and conditions. Our goal is to help you resume your normal activities as soon as possible by facilitating maximum function and independence.

Spine Therapy

Our spine rehabilitation program offers a continuum of care with multiple points of entry: acute and subacute conditions; chronic or settled conditions; or resolving conditions. Progression through all three phases is not always required but is available on an individual basis. Treatment and outcomes are oriented toward restoring function.

Foot and Ankle Therapy

Our program offers mechanical assessment of the lower extremities, including alignment, function, proprioception, strength, and range of motion and flexibility. Our therapists also observe the effects of foot function on the knee, hip, and lower back and pelvic structures. Treatment includes exercises, mobilization, and appropriate physical therapeutic modalities.

Sports Medicine

Sport-specific rehabilitation programs for both competitive and recreational athletes maximize functional restoration and expedite return to play and competition. Our multidisciplinary team emphasizes restoring normal flexibility, strength, power, endurance and biomechanical function.
