HealthSouth is the nation's largest provider of inpatient rehabilitative healthcare services. As a post-acute provider, HealthSouth operates more than 95 freestanding inpatient rehabilitation hospitals, more than 15 long-term acute care hospitals, 12 home health agencies and more than 80 outpatient rehabilitation satellites. These facilities provide the level of care necessary to manage a patient's care after an injury or illness and enhance their quality of life upon discharge from a traditional acute care setting.

At HealthSouth inpatient rehabilitation hospitals, our network of highly skilled physicians, nurses and therapists utilize the latest in equipment and techniques to return patients to home and work.
HealthSouth's long-term acute care hospitals (LTCH) specialize in managing the complex medical care and rehabilitation of patients with multiple acute healthcare needs. Programs are designed to medically stabilize and strengthen patients so they can return to their highest level of function. A patient's average length of stay is between 25 and 30 days.
HealthSouth's home health programs provide skilled nursing and therapeutic services, such as physical, occupational or speech therapy, medical social services and other home medical arrangements.

HealthSouth's inpatient facilities provide the medical, nursing, therapy and ancillary services required to comply with local, state and federal regulations, as well as accreditation standards of the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO) and, for some facilities, the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF).

Outcomes Measurement
HealthSouth utilizes the Uniform Data System for Medical Rehabilitation (UDSmr), the rehabilitation industry's most widely recognized outcomes measurement tool, to monitor overall patient outcomes. This system measures the effectiveness of our hospitals' rehabilitation programs by evaluating and tracking a patient's functional status upon admission, discharge and post-discharge to document the level of disability and to assess the effectiveness of rehabilitation. UDS also allows HealthSouth to benchmark its rehabilitation hospitals against regional and national performance data.
