 George Carlis George Carlis, Chief Development Officer
George Carlis joined HealthSouth in 2011 as vice president of development and was promoted to chief development officer in 2012. He is an accomplished attorney with 25 years of diverse legal, real estate and business experience. Most recently, Carlis served as general counsel for Arlington Capital Advisors, LLC, a sell-side mergers and acquisitions consultant. Additionally, he served as senior vice president and retail division general counsel for Colonial Properties Trust, senior developer for AIG Baker Shopping Center Properties, LLC, and senior vice president and deputy general counsel for Saks Incorporated. He holds a law degree from Cornell University Law School, and a bachelor's degree in accounting from Western Illinois University.

 Ron Gully Ron Gully, Vice President, Development
Ron Gully rejoined HealthSouth as vice president of development in September 2012. He is a seasoned healthcare professional with over 25 years of industry-specific experience. Prior to joining HealthSouth, he served as group vice president of operations in the ambulatory surgery sector. Gully also held the position of chief operating officer, orthopedic division, for a publicly traded medical device company and served as CEO of a revenue cycle outsourcing and consulting company. In addition to his operational expertise, Gully has significant experience in managed care contracting, negotiation and reimbursement models. He holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Mobile.

 Melanie Lewis Melanie Lewis, Vice President, Development
Melanie Lewis rejoined HealthSouth as vice president of development in July 2011. She has more than 17 years of healthcare development experience including previous work as a vice president in the HealthSouth development group from 1994 to 2004 and then as vice president of development for the ambulatory surgery division of HCA from 2004 to 2011. Lewis has also worked as a district hospital representative in the pharmaceutical industry and holds a bachelor’s degree in management from Webster University.

 Andrew Ward Andrew Ward, Vice President, Development
Andy Ward joined HealthSouth in 2007 as director of development and has served as vice president of development since April of that year. Prior to joining HealthSouth Ward served in various roles with Velocity Health Securities, an investment bank focused on small and middle market health care transactions. He received his MBA from Vanderbilt University’s Owen Graduate School of Management and his bachelor’s degree in finance from the University of Tennessee Knoxville.
