Transferring to a HealthSouth Rehabilitation Hospital

Contact the Admissions Department at a HealthSouth hospital near you. A HealthSouth representative will come to you to perform a pre-admission screening and coordinate your transfer to our hospital.

Typical referral process:

  • A request is made for a patient to be evaluated by a HealthSouth rehabilitation liaison.
  • The liaison conducts a screening to determine if the patient meets criteria for admission to a rehabilitation hospital. The screening includes a chart review, a discussion with healthcare personnel and a meeting with the patient and their family to address pertinent information, concerns and questions.
  • The next available appropriate bed is offered to the patient. Often this process occurs within hours.
  • If you have commercial insurance, (including Medicare Advantage plans), in most cases the insurance company will need to approve your admission, before you can be transferred to HealthSouth.

"The work environment is stimulating and challenging without being frantic and overwhelming. A steady pace and relative autonomy give pharmacists the freedom to work with physicians for the most appropriate pharmaceutical interventions. Interactions with physical, occupational, and speech therapists allow the Healthsouth pharmacist to be an integral part of a team approach.”
